I’ve fallen behind writing up my thoughts about all of the exciting things that have been shown off in the past week or so, this was mainly due to a bout of illness and deciding to focus a few days on fixing the site template. I’m going to get back up to speed over the coming week and will work my way through the backlog. What better place to start than with Super Mario 3D World, eh? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink!
Out of all the Wii U ports that have been anticipated for the Switch over the years, Super Mario 3D World was the big one that honestly, was always going to show up at some point. The ill-fated console’s mainline Mario adventure was a strong entry to the series and deserves to be played by a wider audience. The new version of the game will come with some additional content in the form of Bowser’s Fury, we don’t know much about this at this time but I’m expecting a more in-depth Nintendo Direct to explain this nearer to the game’s 12th February 2021 release date.
Those with a greater attention to detail have also noted that this game has been speed up by 20-30% to tweak gameplay and improve handling. Look below for the GameExplain video that goes into this in more detail:
Other features here include an online co-op mode, which is a big step up from the original’s 4-play local co-op. To further commemorate the game’s release, new Cat Mario and Cat Peach Amiibo figures will be released on the same day.
As someone who has already completed the original and loved every minute of it, I will definitely be picking this up on day one.
